The Ideal Routine to Lighten Dark Spots

How To Improve The Look of Dark Spots & Hyperpigmentation

Dark spots, patches and hyperpigmentation found anywhere on the body are all super common, especially when it comes to the armpits and bikini line. For some, the discoloration can be very frustrating and a source of insecurity. In this blog you will find a simple and natural routine to help with dark spots on your own and review impressive progress photos from Bushbalm customers who have used products from our dark spot collection.

Bushbalm Dark Spots

Step 1. Dry Brush

Using our Nordic Dry Brush on your dark spots is necessary to break down the melanin pigments that cause dark spots on the skin's surface - click here to learn more about what causes dark spots. We created the Nordic Dry Brush with all natural bristles to cater to sensitive skin and avoid irritation. You can use the brush anywhere on the body (think bikini line, armpits, legs, chest, arms, stomach and more). It is important to ensure you are using the dry brush in a gentle, circular motion and stick to doing so 1-2 times a week. Don't over dry brush your skin!

Dry Brushing

How to use: Before hopping into the shower or bath, gently buff the areas with dark spots and hyperpigmentation.  We recommend using this product 1-2 times a week, depending on how sensitive your skin is.

Step 2. Scrub

The Bermuda Scrub will treat your dark spots and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation.  Bermuda contains nourishing ingredients, such as lemon essential oil, that will lighten dark spots and brighten the skin. In addition, you'll find our go-to antioxidant rich blend of Jojoba and Grapeseed oil to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin. This exfoliant will scrub away dull and dead skin cells and reveal healthy skin, all while breaking up the melanin pigments - click here to learn more about the ingredients that help to naturally break up dark spots. This 100% all-natural scrub is safe to use on all skin types and everywhere on the body, even the most intimate areas.

Exfoliating Dark Spots

How to use:  Take a small handful of scrub and gently massage it in a circular motion onto your dark spots. For the best results, use in the shower 2-3 times a week, depending on how sensitive your skin is.

Step 3. Treat

The Bermuda Treatment Oil will reduce the look of hyperpigmentation and dark spots found anywhere on the body. Bermuda Oil is formulated to gently break down melanin that builds up in the skin and overtime will help you achieve a more even skin tone. This formula contains essential oils that will lighten the skin and fade the appearance of dark spots. The combination of fractionated coconut carrier oil, lemon essential oil, and rare copaiba oil work to even and diffuse the appearance of dark spots and blemishes.

How to use: Gently massage the oil onto the desired areas; think bikini line, underarms, knees, or anywhere else skin is experiencing hyperpigmentation or dark spots. For best results, use on a daily basis and/or right after stepping out of the shower.

Repeat!

Consistency is key! With consistent use the products in this collection will reduce the appearance of dark spots and help prevent future occurrences of dark spots. Repeat this routine 2-3 times a week and apply the Bermuda Oil on a daily basis. Remember to take progress pictures so that you can see your skin's progress overtime.

Dark Spots on the Face

If you are struggling with dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the face this routine will look a little different. The Bermuda Collection is designed for the body but we have had customers see amazing results on the face! Therefore, we recommend doing patch tests and gradually introducing the Bermuda Scrub and Bermuda Oil into your facial skincare routine. Begin by placing a dime size amount on the face to ensure that there are no negative reactions and that your face skin reacts accepts the product. If you do use the scrub and oil on the face, only place the product on the dark spots. As for the Nordic Dry Brush, we recommend using it exclusively on the rest of the body.
